Ride on the Isle of Wight

Ride on the Isle of Wight gives you the opportunity to relive the days of bus travel in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Filmed on the Isle of Wight mainly during the Running Days organised by the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum.
You can experience the sites and sounds of a 1962 Bristol Lodekka FS on a short route to Carrisbrooke Castle, and then on a longer journey to the Yarmouth ferry terminal and back.  SDL268 is a 1959 Bristol Lodekka LD also takes the picturesque journey to Carrisbrooke. If your interest is in single decker's – take a ride on FDL927D, a 1966 Bristol MW for the long and interesting ride on an afternoon tour to Brook.

If you think this video is all Bristol vehicles, well its not! GDL764 is a 1950 Leyland PD2 with Leyland body and previously operated by Seaveiw Services on the Island. We take a ride on this excellently restored vehicle to see the Castle at Carrisbrooke. Another Lodekka to watch out for is TDL998, a 1960, FS example.
All the ‘Bristol’ vehicles were previously operated by the Southern Vectis company.

During our ‘ride’ on the island we take a look at the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum on a ‘Running Day’, with visiting vehicles and some of the exhibits.  Unfortunately the video does not do justice to them – you must come and see for yourself!

Many thanks go to the Museum for making this video possible. Buying this video will help keep the Museum open.
