London Buses Update 2021-2
Hydrogen & Electric Special
The independent
transport videos cameras have again been out and about in
the capital recording
more changes to the contemporary bus scene for you to
enjoy. This is the
fourth DVD programme in the occasional series recording the ever-changing bus
scene in London. In this edition we feature the increasing use of new electric
buses, which are being introduced into London as well as the hydrogen-powered
Wrightbus StreetDeck Hydroliner double-deckers that were introduced in 2021 on
a trial basis operating on route 7 that runs between Oxford Circus and East
Acton. We take a ride on WHD2727 for you
to sample this innovative bus. Apart
from the large fleets of BYD/ADL Enviro200EV single-deckers that run in London,
seen on this and our previous programmes, Abellio
London have a fleet of 35 Caetano
e.City Gold single-deckers and these are seen operating the C10 route passing
through Victoria. Also new to Abellio on our 2022 visit are a fleet of
BYD/ADL Enviro 400CityEV double-deckers that operate on route 63 that runs
between King’s Cross and Honor Oak. Our
cameras take a ride on 3408 from King’s Cross to Blackfriars station which
shows off it’s high-tech equipment which serves to enhance the passengers’ journey.
This DVD programme was filmed in September
2021 and during the hot summer of 2022.
Locations for the 2021 visit include Waterloo Bridge, Paddington,
Edgware Road, Marble Arch, South Kensington, Buckingham Palace Road and Victoria. Our cameras also take rides on RATP London BE37015 (LJ18 FJX), a BYD
10.9m/ADL Enviro 200EV on route C1 to Victoria and on Go-Ahead London SEe25 (LJ66 CGK) a similar BYD 12m/ADL Enviro 200EV
on route 507 from Victoria to Waterloo.
Summer 2022 is covered in four visits to the capital. Locations include Waterloo Bridge, Strand,
Aldwych, Trafalgar Square, Haymarket, Regent Street and Oxford Street. At Aldwych look out for buses from CT Plus on route 26 as this company went
into administration in August 2022 and the vehicles and routes are now operated
by Stagecoach London. We also see ‘New Routemaster’ – LT class buses in the East London Transit livery.
These buses are operated by Blue
Triangle, which is part of the Go-Ahead London group. During our 2022 visits as mentioned above our
cameras take rides on ComfortDelGro Metroline WHD2727 (LK70 AZZ), a Wright
StreetDeck Hydroliner on route 7 from Oxford Street to Paddington and then on Stagecoach London 12321 (SK14 CSZ), an
ADL Enviro400 (Hybrid) on route 205 from Paddington to King’s Cross. From here we board Abellio London 3408 (LC71 KWR), a BYD/ADL Enviro 400CityEV for a
journey to Blackfriars station. Further
filming occurs on Stamford Street and at Waterloo Bus Station. To complete our programme we briefly take a
look at Metroline’s Hydroliner
WHD2712 at the 2021 Showbus Rally and finish off with a photo gallery from our ‘London
Buses Update’ programme.
