The independent
transport videos studios are proud to present the first in a series of
video programmes filmed by the late renowned transport photographer Malcolm
King. Malcolm was a good friend to us at
the independent transport videos studios and over the years he
filmed buses and trams in the UK and overseas, many of which we have published
for you to enjoy. This ‘Collection’ of
programmes features buses in Yorkshire filmed during 2021 and 2022.
This first programme covers mostly West
Yorkshire with visits to Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Wakefield and
Dewsbury. It is presented in the order
that he filmed the buses, mostly during 2021, in bus stations, town centres and
out in the lovely Yorkshire countryside.
The films feature buses from the fleets of Firstbus, Arriva and a number
of independents. One of the main events
in 2021 that he captured in some detail was the final months and weeks of the
services operated by Arriva owned Yorkshire Tiger and its eventual takeover in
July 2021 by Transdev with the new fleet name of Team Pennine. This sees the bright orange livery with tiger
strips changing to a deep pink livery!
One bus he followed in service was former Arriva Yorkshire DAF BD250
Optare Spectra 717 (YG52 CFX), resplendent in Yorkshire Tiger’s orange
livery. We see it in Halifax and
surrounding areas.
Malcolm also visited
the Yorkshire Tiger depots at Ellend, Halifax and Waterloo, Huddersfield to
film the buses prior to the takeover and again after Transdev took charge. There is plenty of action for you enjoy and
at the time of editing this programme in early 2026, some of the buses have
since left the fleets and new liveries have been introduced. So sit back and enjoy this grand tour of
Yorkshire buses in this the first programme in the ‘Collection’ series.
